Once the pinching has been carried out and you have good root growth, Sun Parasol should be potted into a larger pot and must be grown up a support system such as a trellis. The recommended pot size is from 200 to 2500mm, best to use 2 plants per 250mm pot and one in a 200mm pot. A 200mm pot will require a trellis system of approx 50cm tall and the 250mm pot can have a 80cm high trellis. Same potting compost can be used as for the initial potting but adding a slow release fertilizer should be added. As the plant grows vigorously the shoots should be trained around the trellis as much as possible until the desired canopy has been reached, then pinch out the tips this will then encourage the flowering which should happen within 4-5 weeks after the final pinch. The shoots will grow 150-200mm per week from October onwards.
